In March 2009, ten students and two teachers from Pathways World School returned the visit to Nan Hua High School, which rolled out a variety of activities over five days to show them what Singapore had to offer. Besides classroom immersion, the group also went on a hiking trip to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and educational tours to the Science Centre and Marina Barrage.
How did the Indian students find Singapore? Grade 8 students Komal Dang and Suhail Thandi said they were impressed with the clean, orderly streets as well as surprised by the "low noise level". Beyond the initial cultural "shock", both students enjoyed themselves. Suhail says, "It's been a good learning experience in getting to know more people and their cultures."
Komal suggests, "It would be better if the stay is a longer one, so that we can interact with more students and know more about the cultures here." Longer stay or not, with such positive response from students, Nan Hua High School hopes to strengthen the partnership with Indian schools, and a second immersion programme in India is expected towards the end of this year.

The immersion programme at Nan Hua High School kicked off with some ice-breaker games, including a few energetic rounds of Ultimate Frisbee.
During a break between the ice-breaker games, Nan Hua High School students prepared vegetarian burgers to cater to their Indian guests.
Indian students also got to try out local food in the school canteen during their five-day stay.
It was a glorious day when the students from Pathways World School visited the Marina Barrage. No wonder Grade 8 student Komal Dang wished their visit to Singapore could have lasted longer.
